I found RockAuto a few years ago (it was recommended by several, at the time, pleased customers). So I placed an order.

Then another, then another, and came to depend on them as a good supplier. I've never had a problem.... I've also never had to do a return, until recently. I received a defective rotor (no visible defects) until it was installed and the imbalance became apparent, after I chased everything else down including new mounts, etc.

Ok. It happens. Life goes on. I wasn't going to blame them.

No problem- give me a new one and I'll be on my way. After much hassle, not the case. Now to the point of following up with credit card and/or State atty general complaints. Hours of my time spent on a simple brake job.

Now more time spent with their return games. Hoping this helps someone. (Wishing I'd read the reviews as it appears they are under new more "aggressive" management the last year or two seeing so many similar posts which I am adding one to)....

On a positive note after messing w/ Rock Auto for a few days, I obtained new parts so wife could drive her car- I will say +1 to Amazon- Thanks for having parts in my hands in 36 hrs. -1 Rock Auto for not offering to ship a replacement to me ASAP.

Reason of review: Problem with delivery.

RockAuto Cons: Refund policy for defective item, No effort put forth in resolving issue to customers satisfaction, Shipping, Blames customer for their bad part.

Location: Ontario, New York

I purchased a clutch kit for a 1991 Mazda Miata 1.6L. After two months I had to pull out the transmission again to figure out what was wrong with what seemed to be the throwout bearing.

In fact the bearing housing which held the forks attachment & bearing was literally stripped off the core bearing with bits of metal in the bottom of my bell housing. Fortunately I had kept the original pressure plate (turned out it was ok 1st time I did the work - I put in the new one anyways). I measured the diameter of between the tangs and vs the trashed bearing contact surface diameter and compared the new kit to the OEM (old PP & new throwout bearing). Looks like the kit ("platinum level" - 2 yr warrentee) tangs diameter vs the bearing contact surface diameter vs the position of the tangs when the PP was engaged resulted in the tangs contacting the outside housing of the TO bearing and literally peeled it off!

This is entirely an out of spec manufactured set of components aka - garbage. RockAuto did not provide any means whatsoever for me to get my money back for the *** they sold, but only had a system that would ship me replacements of the same garbage.

They DON'T HONOR THEIR RETURN Policy. 4+ years and very happy not having dealt with them since this.

Here it goes replaced the catalytic converter slash pipe assembly on my camry. 8 months later a rattle developed in the converter followed by a po420.

I was told to purchase another one install it and return the defective one. This is what i did and was told oil in the pipe caused overheating which caused the part to fail. B.S. my car doesn't leak or burn oil.

bottom line .I cost myself money trying to save a few bucks using rock auto .From now on i will just use my local suppliers and not use this company again.I'm not even gonna try to explain the shipping ordeal i went through .NEVER AGAIN...
